- To be honest, I never actually saw all of Gundam Seed nor Gundam Seed Destiny, and I think I'll probably just give both series a try. I mean I've seen both on and off and it was annoying before, but I think this time I will watch through all 100 episodes of Seed and Seed Destiny. Reply Delete.

A year after its prequel's finale, and on December 25, 2005, a director's cut version of the final episode called 'Final Plus' aired with additional scenes and an epilogue. Gundam SEED Destiny's first English broadcast began on Canada's YTV starting on March 9, 2007[1] and it is also available in the United States on Comcast's Anime Selects On Demand network.[2] In November 2012, Sunrise announced through the last remastered episode of Gundam SEED a Gundam SEED Destiny HD remaster project.[3]
Eight pieces of music were used for the original series. The four opening themes were 'Ignited' (ignited -イグナイテッド-Igunaiteddo) by T.M.Revolution from one to thirteen, 'Pride' by High and Mighty Color from fourteen to twenty four, 'Bokutachi no Yukue' (僕たちの行方, lit. 'Our Whereabouts') by Hitomi Takahashi from twenty five to thirty seven, and 'Wings Of Words' by Chemistry towards the end. The ending themes are 'Reason' by Nami Tamaki from episodes one to thirteen, 'Life Goes On' by Mika Arisaka from fourteen to twenty five, 'I Wanna Go To A Place...' by Rie Fu from twenty six to thirty seven, and 'Kimi wa Boku ni Niteiru' (君は僕に似ている, lit. 'You are Similar to Me') towards the end, by pop duo See-Saw. The English TV dub used 'Pride' in place of 'Ignited', but used all other original openings. The TV dub also retained the ending themes. The 2013-2014 HD remaster of Gundam SEED Destiny replaces 'Wings of Words' with T.M. Revolution's 'Vestige' (vestige -ヴェスティージ-Vesutīji), a theme originally used only as the opening for the 'Final Plus' edition of episode 50.

The series was collected in a total of thirteen DVD volumes that were released in Japan from February 24, 2005 to February 24, 2005.[4][5] A DVD box from the television series that also included the special episode was released on April 9, 2010.[6] The North American release does not include the special episode entitled 'Edited' and thus it was not aired on English-speaking networks. 'Edited' is an alternate version of episode 6, 'The End of the World', and used bits and pieces of scenes of the original episode 6. The DVDs came with a specially made parody episode of Gundam SEED titled Gundam SEED Character Theatre. The series was released on twelve DVDs in North America in uncut bilingual format between March 14, 2006 and January 8, 2008.[7][8] The Final Plus episode was announced to have been licensed in July 2007,[9] with a single DVD released on April 15, 2008.[10] Two 'Anime Legends' DVD boxes volumes from the series were later released on January 13, 2009 and May 19, 2009 .[11][12]

The Mobile Suit Gundam SEEDanime series is animated by the Japanese anime studio Sunrise and directed by Mitsuo Fukuda. It aired from October 5, 2002 to September 27, 2003, with fifty episodes on TBS.[1] As with other series from the Gundam franchise, Gundam SEED takes place in a parallel timeline, in this case the Cosmic Era, the first to do so. In this era, mankind has developed into two subspecies: Naturals, who reside on Earth and Coordinators, genetically-enhanced humans capable of withstanding the rigors of space who inhabit orbital colonies. The story revolves around a young Coordinator Kira Yamato who becomes involved in the war between the two races after a neutral space colony is invaded by the Coordinators.
Mobile Suit Gundam SEED was dubbed in English and its first English air date was on April 17, 2004 on the American cable network Cartoon Network as part of its Toonami saturday night primetime action animation block and its late Friday night/Early Saturday morning late-night primetime slot.[2] It was later broadcast on Canada's YTV starting on September 10, 2004,[3] Australia's Cartoon Network Australia starting on December 12, 2005,[4] and the United Kingdom's AnimeCentral starting on January 5, 2008.[5]
Seven themes of music were used for the original version of the series. Its openings were 'Invoke' (INVOKE -インヴォーク-Invōku) by T.M.Revolution from episode one to thirteen, 'Moment' by Vivian or Kazuma from fourteen to twenty six, 'Believe' from twenty seven to forty, and 'Realize' for the rest of the series both by Nami Tamaki. The three ending themes are 'Anna ni Issho Datta no ni' (あんなに一緒だったのに, lit. 'Although We Were Always Together') by See-Saw from episodes one to twenty six, 'River' by Tatsuya Ishii from twenty seven to thirty nine, and 'Find the Way' by Mika Nakashima towards the end. The English TV dub used a 30-second shortened version of 'Invoke' as its opening, but used the same endings as the original. The English DVD dub uses the original openings in their original format. For Japan's HD remaster, Gundam SEED cut the two recap episodes from its original broadcast (14 and 26). FictionJunction's new theme 'Distance' replaced all uses of 'River' with the exception of episode 40 with 'Akatsuki no Kuruma' (暁の車) by FictionJunction.
A sequel called Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny, aired from October 9, 2004[6] to October 1, 2005, also with fifty episodes. Both SEED and SEED Destiny have special editions which are condensed versions of the series that include additional footage.[7]Mobile Suit Gundam SEED C.E. 73: Stargazer, which is directed by Susumu Nishizawa, is a three-episode original net animation (ONA). The first episode of the side story was first streamed on the internet on July 14, 2006, but it premiered a week earlier on July 7, 2006 at Tokyo Anime Center's Akiba 3D Theater.[8]
